In 2024, we turned a bold new page in creative education with the launch of MetStudios, a sister school to MetFilm School, purpose-built to explore the future of art, design and storytelling across video games.
But what does this partnership mean for you, as a prospective student or emerging creative?
It means more than just a broader list of courses. It signals the beginning of a cross-campus ecosystem, where filmmakers, designers, and artists collaborate to build the future of entertainment together.
With MetFilm School’s decades-long legacy in screen education and MetStudios’ forward-facing focus on interactive media, students now gain the best of both worlds. Whether you’re learning to build narrative-driven video games, design cinematic universes in 3D, or bring characters to life, you’ll be surrounded by fellow creatives honing their craft across disciplines.
Storytelling across screens
What does the MetFilm School partnership actually give you?
MetFilm School is a school with decades of experience training working film and TV professionals. The relationship between the two institutions is a genuine cross-disciplinary pipeline that mirrors the way the modern entertainment industry actually operates.
Think about what’s happened to the boundary between games and film. The Last of Us started as a video game; it’s now one of the most acclaimed TV series of the last decade. Arcane went from League of Legends lore to a record-breaking Netflix show. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners did the same. The studios making the most talked-about content right now are the ones fluent in both languages, both interactive and cinematic.
At MetFilm School and MetStudios, you’ll be learning within a creative pipeline that mirrors this very process. At MetStudios Brighton, that’s the environment you’re training in from day one.

Your story starts here
Whether you’re enrolling in one of MetStudios’ future-focused BA (Hons) degrees in Games Art and Technology, Games Design and Development or joining a course at MetFilm School, your learning experience will be deeply collaborative. The lines between disciplines are intentionally blurred, because that’s how the industry works.
Studying BA (Hons) Games Design and Development? Collaborate with MetFilm screenwriters and directing students to build narrative systems and emotionally-driven characters that genuinely move people, not just mechanics that function.
On the BA (Hons) Games Art and Technology course? Partner with cinematographers and editors to push your visual work to a professional standard, from cinematic trailers to in-game cutscenes. Lighting, composition, colour: these aren’t just film concepts anymore.
These aren’t one-off opportunities – they’re part of the everyday culture across our campus in Brighton.
With industry-led teaching, student collaboration, and the combined strength of MetFilm School and MetStudios behind you, you’re not just studying for a creative career, you’re already living it.
MetStudios is based in Brighton, a city with a genuine creative tech scene and a long history of independent game development. The campus gives you access to facilities built for the realities of modern game production, alongside the wider resources of MetFilm School and the BIMM University.
